 | History: | 1.5 year-old boy with a small, palpable protrudance on the right parietal side. | |
 | Pathomorphology or Pathophysiology of this disease : | Dysontogenic tumor of splitted, not further differentiated cell clusters. The tumor contains mostly epidermis/callous material and connective tissue and is surrounded by a thin membrane. If there are other skin derivatives (glands, etc), one speaks of an epidermoid. | |
 | Radiological findings: |
<- view X-Ray 1
X-Ray 1: 5 x 7 mm large, with slightly sclerosed edges, lesion in the parietal bone.
<- view X-Ray 2
X-Ray 2: 5 x 7 mm large, with slightly sclerosed edges, lesion in the parietal bone.
More common in the parietal bone, but also seen in the occipital bone.
They can be seen within the diploe-structures, but also intracranially, particularly medially. In CT, they are hypo- to isointense, in MRI (in T2 weighted images) hyperintense.

 | Diagnosis confirmation: | Surgery / Histo | |
 | Which DD would be also possible with the radiological findings: | All lytic cranial vault processes, such as: Histiocytosis X (eosinophilic granuloma) Neuroblastoma metastases Leukemic infiltrates Osteomyelitis Neurofibromas in Neurofibromatosis Osteochondroma Aneurismatic bone cyts | |
 | Course / Prognosis / Frequency / Other : | Often there is a spontaneous remission by epidermoid. | |
