 | Region-Organ: | Head-Bones | |
 | Most likely etiology: | circulatory | |
 | History: | 15 year-old boy after a cranial trauma. No symptoms. Chance findings in a cranial X-ray (done here to rule out fracture). | |
 | Pathomorphology or Pathophysiology of this disease : | Diploic veins, which become more prominent with increasing age.
The different expression of the impressions left by the veins are not always explainable. | |
 | Radiological findings: |
<- view X-Ray 1
X-Ray 1: Linear frontal radiolucent line, slight sclerosis of the wall (in contrast to the fracture lines). Dicotonic branching which is typical for vasculature.
Veins also can flow together in a star-shaped pattern.
In an obvious difference in the diploic veins of either side, one must take an intracranial angioma as a differential diagnosis into consideration (if there is an increase of venous flow).
